A third generation family owned estate in the heart of the cape Winelands, Wellington, South Africa. Owned by David & Sue Sonnenberg, who transformed Diemersfontein from a family fruit farm to the well recognised brand name it has since become. Though they have only been producing wines for the last 13 years, Diemersfontein has certainly become a well recognised household brand since. Globally famous for it's original "Coffee Chocolate" style Pinotage, this living wine estate not only produces some of the country's finest award winning wines, but also provides home to private estate residents who live permanently on the farm. Furthermore, the estate hospitality side offers to tourism, a 22 bedroom guest-house, a la carte restaurant, conference and function venue.

Diemersfontein has a loyal following in the UK and in South Africa they see their biggest selling red wine in Woolworths (their equivalent of M&S/Waitrose).

Beyond the wines and hospitality side of this estate, Diemersfontein is proud to have some additional avenues of interest within arts and culture. David and Sue were the co-founders in establishing a private school on the estate, called Wellington Preparatory School, which together with the efforts of the estate provide sponsored education to 30% of their students - who would otherwise likely not attend school at all. Another project headed by David & Sue, is the Excellence out of Africa Trust, which endeavours to promote and assist local South African talent within the classical music and opera arenas. By way of sponsored concerts and exposure to the right people, numerous protégés have been assisted in gaining bursaries to study further and establish the foundations of their careers. Examples of such artists are Pretty Yende, Given Nkosi, Njabulo Madlala to name but a few.
